Invasive Plant Removal | Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration

Description

Make a difference at Amberleigh Park by helping our Horticulture staff remove invasive plants!

Invasive plants are not native to our area and crowd out native plant species. This reduces the biodiversity in our natural areas and reduces food sources for local wildlife.

The area you help clear will be maintained by staff and then replanted with beneficial plants over time. This is a win for plants, wildlife and the Dublin community!

This project is suited for volunteers who are:

  • At least 16 years old or 13 and up with a parent also registered as a volunteer
  • Comfortable walking on unpaved trails and uneven ground
  • Able to safely and responsibly use provided equipment, such as hacksaws and loppers

Project Details:

Check in at the start of your shift. Staff will train you on the plants, tools and area of the project. At the end of your shift time, return your materials.

Project will pause between 10:00-10:30 A.M. for the annual tree planting ceremony and to switch volunteer shifts.

Other opportunities for engagement include

  • Interactions and learning from our Forestry and Horticulture teams
  • Plant giveaways
  • Bring your own plant(s) and seed(s) to swap at the Suburban Gardeners of Dublin table
  • Learn ways to get involved in gardening
