MLK Civic Service Series: Project Knit for Cancer Patients

Get Connected Icon Until Feb 8, 2026

Description

Knit a Hat, Share the Warmth

Help wrap a cancer patient in comfort and care—one cozy stitch at a time.
During chemo, many patients lose their hair, leaving them feeling cold, vulnerable and uncomfortable. But a handmade hat can make all the difference—offering warmth, confidence, and a heartfelt reminder that their community is cheering them on.

And that's where YOU come in!

We’re calling on volunteers of all skill levels—first-time knitters to seasoned pros—to create soft, comforting hats for cancer patients. Knit at your own pace, in your own space, and be part of something truly meaningful.

Ready to make a difference - one stitch at a time?

  1. Respond to let us know you're interested.
  2. Follow this link for all the details: project instructions, yarn guidance, and everything you need to get knitting (plus info about the bash!)
  3. Then join us for our Project Completion Bash! We'll celebrate your hard work, learn more about the impact these hats make, add finishing touches to our creations, and split up to deliver them to local cancer treatment centers.

This project is part of the MLK Civic Service Series, honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s vision of the Beloved Community through compassion in action.

Grab your needles, pick your yarn, and help us spread warmth where it's needed most!
