Since World War I, the red poppy has been a symbol of the sacrifice offered by American Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
As a tribue to veterans, volunteers are requested to craft paper poppies and string them on fishing wire. These will be hung in a dynamic display at the Dublin Community Recreation Center leading up to Veterans' Day. By providing this service, volunteers will give visitors to the Dublin Community Recreation Center an opportunity for reflection and rememberance.
We are looking for adults who are skilled at crafting as well as educating people of all ages on how to complete a crafting task. These volunteers will be table leads, experimenting with the best methods for creating poppies from tissue paper or construction paper, and then working with their tables to produce poppies in a variety of fashions.
