Take charge of a helium balloon and create a safe and dynamic balloon display!
Adult (18+) volunteers will watch a virtual training on piloting a helium balloon prior to the parade.
At the balloon lot, pilots will work with their team to practice raising, lowering, tilting and spinning their balloons.
During the parade, pilots will be at the front of the balloon to guide the team. Attention is paid to:
- Overhead wires and other high obstacles requiring the balloon to be lowered
- Allowing the balloon to fly high when no obstacles exist
- Ensuring balloon handlers keep their ropes taunt and properly rolled
- Spinning, tilting and otherwise showing off the balloon, as able
- Assisting team with balloon deflation at the deflation lot
