Assist Nature Educator, Barbara Ray, at the Nature Station tent.
Tasks:
- Volunteers will provide information on nature topics to visitors, keep an eye on the live animals (generally turtles and bunnies), facilitate hands-on activities with animal furs, antlers, (dormant) hornets' nest and/or other biofacts. Volunters may provide information on responsible bird feeding, water sampling and healthy waterways.
- Volunteers will arrive early for a pre-program training and to set up for the event.
- Volunteers will assist with teardown.
Requirements:
- Volunteers in this assignment should be excited to proactively engage visitors and be able to communicate with young children and families.
- Volunteers should be able to quickly learn nature information and then communicate that information to others.
- Volunteers should be able to work outdoors for the duration of the event.
Experience Public Works Day celebrates National Public Works Week. Children and families are invited to explore the public vehicles they see around the city. Additional activities, like information stations, tricycle races and bouncy houses may be included. Around 1,000 visitors are expected.
