Volunteer: Sustainable Saturday

Sustainable Saturday is an annual event for Dublin residents to drive-thru and dispose of household items in an effort to divert waste and old, unwanted items from the landfill. Residents can bring Styrofoam packaging materials, e-waste, gently used textiles/clothes and unwanted prescription drugs to dispose of. 

Volunteers will assist staff by efficiently unloading items from vehicles to keep the line of cars moving smoothly.

Volunteer: Invasive Plant Removal | Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration

Make a difference at Amberleigh Park by helping our Horticulture staff remove invasive plants!

Invasive plants are not native to our area and crowd out native plant species. This reduces the biodiversity in our natural areas and reduces food sources for local wildlife. 

The area you help clear will be maintained by staff and then replanted with beneficial plants over time. This is a win for plants, wildlife and the Dublin community!

This project is suited for volunteers who are:

At least 16 years old or 13 and up with a parent also registered as a volunteerComfortable walking on unpaved trails and uneven groundAble to safely and responsibly use provided equipment, such as hacksaws and loppers

Project Details:

Check in at the start of your shift. Staff will train you on the plants, tools and area of the project. At the end of your shift time, return your materials. 

Project will pause between 10:00-10:30 A.M. for the annual tree planting ceremony and to switch volunteer shifts.

Celebrate Earth Month through volunteerism!

Join the Earth Day / Arbor Day festivities by cleaning up litter in Amberleigh Park. Trash that is not properly disposed of can be ingested by wildlife, cause birds and other animals to become entangled, blow into our waterways and generally become a nuisance in our parks. You can help us by participating in a litter cleanup of Amberleigh Park!

This project is great for:

Adults, teens ages 14 and up or youth with a registered parent or guardian.

Project Details:

Check in at the pavilion. You'll pick up your cleanup supplies and be placed with a team of other volunteers. Your group may walk the greenspace, playground or the wooded areas of the park, respecting private property. Sort recyclable  items into clear bags and other trash into black bags. Return to the pavilion at the end of your shift.

Both new and experienced City of Dublin garden volunteers are invited to join our spring training and seed planting. You'll learn why our two volunteer-led gardens exist, how to access supplies and water and your responsibilities at each site. We'll also discuss scheduling, recording hours and our new Group Garden days at Ferris-Wright. Volunteeres who participate in both trainings will be able to schedule shifts at both parks.

1:00-2:00 Giving Garden at the Coffman Homestead (6659 Emerald Parkway - Parking at 5200 Emerald Parkway at the City of Dublin Development Building)

2:30-3:30 Ferris-Wright Interpretive Garden (4400 Emerald Parkway)
