Upcoming Opportunities From: City of Dublin, Ohio

Volunteer: Mike Utt Scioto River Cleanup

Join us at Amberleigh Community Park on Saturday, September 12 for the 2026 Scioto River Cleanup!

This annual tradition diverts trash from our rivers and new this year, adds native trees to the riverbank.

Volunteers will be divided into groups and assigned a location along the Scioto River to clean trash from the Scioto and the surrounding riverbank. One group will also assist in planting trees or shurbs in Amberleigh in an area where Earth Day volunteers removed honeysuckle.

During your morning, you'll also hear from City of Dublin staff about the importance of trash diversion, wildlife along our river and the part that plants play in a healthy eco system. This Learn-and-Serve volunteer project is excellent for anyone who wants to make a positive impact on clean water, meet new people and learn more about the beautiful plants and wildlife that call Dublin home.

Volunteer: Water Quality Monitoring Blitz

Help us monitor water quality along Indian Run Stream!

Volunteers will meet at the Coffman West Shelter (near the restrooms by the tennis courts) for an orientation and training on how to use the monitoring wands and log the data.

Then groups will be sent out by car, bike or hiking to designated sites along the stream to monitor water in specific locations.

They may also collect a sample of water to be lab tested for hardness.

By gathering this information, we have a snapshot of the stream health that can be compared to similar blitzes in the past. This information is helpful in identifying problem areas, trends and other stream health data.

Volunteers should be able to walk off-trail and provide their own transportation, if necessary.
